Clinical Engineering (North) Best Value Group
The Clinical Engineering North group was formed in July 2000, after it was recognised that the Controls Assurance process identified the advantage of being a member of such clubs.
Today, the Clinical Engineering North Group is an expert group of professionals, assisting clinical engineering managers in the continuous improvement of their services.
An important aspect of the group’s meetings is sharing data to benchmark performance. To facilitate benchmarking, the group has developed a number of KPIs. These KPIs enable members to monitor their department’s individual performance and provide a means to monitor continuous performance.

NPAGs ongoing production and establishment of credible benchmarking data is invaluable towards the development of my Clinical Engineering department and function.
As Head of a Biomedical Engineering Department, it is essential to keep abreast of best practice, developments in clinical practice, quality management and regulation. NPAG is a great way of sharing information & experiences on a wide variety of these fast-moving topics, as well expert presentations at the annual conference.
I have found that the NPAG benchmarking group is a fantastic way to network and also to review and discuss issues to make improvements in my own organisation. Also I have found that the information sharing has ensured that I can make improvements in patients safety, compliance to standards, service supply issues. It has also been useful to discuss with suppliers their presentations on new products and services and to also highlight common issues that we all face and look to influence suppliers to improve their service provision. Thoroughly recommend being a member.
